![]() ![]() The antifreeze coolant that you use in your car’s cooling system is also important because it helps to prevent your car from starting on cold days or during hot weather. The antifreeze coolant that is used in your car’s transmission, radiator and other parts is important because it helps to keep your car’s engine running smoothly and without problems. One of the most important aspects of your car’s cooling system is which antifreeze coolant you use. This means that when it freezes, it will form clumps and the liquid will be more difficult to pour.ĭoes It Matter Which Antifreeze Coolant I Use I've probably gone through 4 flushes in the past 40k miles alone. The main difference between pink and green antifreeze is that green antifreeze is made from vegetable oil and has a higher melting point than pink antifreeze. I flush my coolant every so often since something always fucks up on my car and I'll have to drain it. For me, sometimes it's convenient and more readily available, and cheaper. Now I'm not saying Dexcool is superior or anything, I'd take G12 any day over Dex. Very rarely we have to replace complete manifolds, and that's usually on the 3.8 non s/c motors. Most 3.x or any other GM engine out there for that matter, had to have intake manifold gaskets replaced due to bad designs. 3.4? In what cars the F body camaros/firebirds, Dexcool wasn't even used as standard coolant until 96 so those shouldn't have even been running dex in the first place. Sorry dude I work at a GM dealership and never seen cars come in with DexCool sludging on it's own. ive done too many 3.4 intakes with 75000 miles on it to believe anything good you say of dexcool. Youve never had problems with dexcool? i call it. but i can tell you 100% the prestone bottle is true. People need to read the bottles before assuming. there was so much misinformation from my peers that its impossible to actually give out the right info and have a customer believe you. The reason i dont work at autozone anymore is the same reason i dont like this thread. and customers ask the same questions being brought up in this thread. beleive me i had asshats come in and complain to me constantly. I was a store manager for autozone for a year. they have an autozone PS fluid specially formulated for hondas so anyone can use their brain to see that there is exceptions. right on the shelf next to the autozone PS fluid. hondas and audis do take special ps fluids as well as other cars. and im almost positive it says "Compatible for MOST vehicles" (not all). (edit: no aggression meant in this post, I just had a bad experience with believing the bottle)actually on autozones PS bottle im pretty sure it clearly states the vehicles it is not OK for (on the back i think). Yeah and the power steering fluid at Autozone says it's compatible with all makes and models, and can be mixed with other types of power steering fluid as well. When you redo it all give it a good flush and make sure you mix with distilled water. If you are just a tad low, throw in some water. I get my G12 from the local Audi dealer here for about 19 bucks a gallon.īack on track, OP, you can sure mix the two. Dexcool lists out 25.01 from GM, so no it's not necessarily cheaper than G12, maybe more convenient at times. But that doesn't mean it's up to manufacturer specs. Yes you can mix the all makes all models crap. Not here to argue with you, but please don't call me out for no reason. In a later post I even state I use it in my own car. Read my posts again, I state in the same one that it'll be fine to mix. Stop giving out misinformation when you dont know what you are talking about. Are you kidding me? Sarcasm much? Or just have selective reading? which essentialy works just as well for half the price. most likely someone didnt wanna pay the insane price to buy G12 and just filled it with dex cool. just dont mix the older green stuff with pink or orange.
